And because we offer everything from contact prescriptions to pediatric eye exams, we’re a one-stop shop for the whole family.

Macular Pigment Optical Density Test

At Healing Eye Care we take an indepth look at your overall eye health. One of the many tests we offer is the Macular Pigment Optical Density (MPOD). This is a non invasive, preventive  test to see how protected your macula (responsible for central vision)  is from harmful blue/violet and UV lights.

Throughout our daily lives we have multiple sources of blue/violet light and UV light being directed into our eyes. Over time, vitamins (lutein and zeaxanthin) can become weak within the macula and allow the harmful lights into the retina. With the ever increasing screen time (computers,phones,ETC) we need to be extra careful to make sure we do not cause damage to our eyes.

The Optomap is a piece of diagnostic technology that is able to take a full 200 degree picture of the back of the eye (retina). This helps the doctor to get a full, comprehensive picture of the health of your eye without the need for dilation. This in depth review can help to catch eye diseases, like macular degeneration early on and lower the need for emergency eye care later down the road.

The best part about our office having the latest technology is not only can Dr. Gindi get a great view of your eye, but she reviews the images with you so you are able to see the back of your eye and have a better understanding of her findings. This simple, non-invasive test is also electronically saved so we are able to look back year to year to be able to track if there have been any changes.

Pediatric Eye Care

Do you have a child that is complaining about headaches? Is your child’s teacher saying they are squinting to see the board? These could be clues that they need an eye exam and personalized care plan! Even if your child is not experiencing issues, it truly is never too early to begin a regular eye care schedule with an optometrist. The American Optometric Association (AOA) even recommends that a child’s first eye exam should be at 6 months of age.

Throughout her 34 years in practice, one of Dr. Gindi’s primary subspecialties has become pediatric care. Along with a comprehensive eye exam, which includes a cycloplegic dilation, she is able to test the motility of the eye at any age, to see how the eyes work together as a team. Dr Gindi will then take an in-depth look at your child’s eye health and see if there is anything (glasses, contact prescription, therapy, etc) that could be beneficial to your child’s vision. Schedule your child’s annual eye exam today!

Vision Therapy

Vision problems can often cause physical symptoms and ailments that make day-to-day activities a challenge. But the good thing is that you do not have to live long term with issues such as;

  • dry eye syndrome
  • lazy eye (amblyopia)
  • crossed eyes (strabismus)
  • focusing insufficiency and excess
  • ocular muscle dysfunction

Vision therapy in our practice includes a fully customized behavioral visual therapy program designed to assist children and adults who experience any of these eye problems. Through the use of specialized lenses, prisms, filters, prisms, eye movements and exercises, vision therapy can improve your eye skills and strength. So unlike drastic surgery, or treatments such as eyeglasses and contact lenses, behavioral vision therapy focuses on teaching your entire visual system to correct itself.
